Particle Physicists study things that are extremely small. From basic chemistry and physics, most people understand what protons and neutrons are, but in particle physics we study things that are the building blocks of these types of matter, meaning they are even smaller. (Gasp!)

One may ask themselves... "Self, how can anyone be interested in things we can't even see?"

It is a common belief that by studying these small pieces of matter, we may be able to understand the origins of the universe. So in other words, we study very small things to understand very large things, how strange.
