I have built some rpm packages I hope that they will be of use to the RedHat user or anyone who has an RPM based linux distribution. They can all be found at:
Here is what you will find at the above anonymous ftp site:
rpm -ivh ftp://ftp.phy.bnl.gov/pub/linux/redhat/bnl-RPMS-i386/texsis-2.16-1.i386.rpm
To upgrade a package, replace the -ivh with -Uvh. Note, the netscape wrapper package is more complicated and just using the example above will not work. Read the netscape wrapper README file for further details
There are two other RPM package topics to note. Cernlib and RedHat contributed RPMs.
CERN now distributions its popular cernlib software in .rpm format. Check out ftp://asisftp.cern.ch for further details on how to become a registered cernlib user and have access to cernlib.
List of RedHat Contributed RPM packaged.
RedHat Anonymous FTP site where one can find the .rpm packaged software.
Many, many, many, (I can't stress the magnitude) public domain rpm packages are being contributed to RedHat for public consumption. Click here to get a listing of all currently available packages. Click here for the redhat anonymous ftp sites where one can find these packages. Remember, if there is a public domain package you want to install, chances are it has already been packaged into RPM which makes it trivial to install on your RedHat system.
If there are any software packages you find which you want installed on the phyppro linux cluster, let me know by e-mail.
