Buying a PC with Linux
Preinstalled
Yes, you can buy a PC with linux preinstalled. One
of the nice features of doing this is that you don't have to mess with
making it work. Once itarrives on your desk, you can call they guy who
sold it to you who will help you get it hooked up to the network and answer
any newbie questions you have. The price for a PC purchased this way
is the same as if you went and bought it from CCD and installed linux
yourself.
The NUHEP Linux workstation were purchased from ASL Workstations,
Inc. They provide excellent support. The Pentinum Pro Workstations
in house are running fine. ASL Workstations has won every bid. (The
workstations were not sole sourced.) They will preconfigure your system
upon request.
