Minutes of November 12, 1996 E821 Schedule Meeting

     Wuzheng Meng presented the inflector plan. The Cryo techs will
need about two weeks to hookup the inflector to the cryo system. John
Benante said the inflector should be in a state where they can start
the hookup around Nov.18. Therefore, we should be ready to cool-down
the inflector around Dec.4. Ralf Prigl discussed the magnetic field
shimming progress. They made extensive magnetic measurements over the
weekend. They have now accomplished the shimming program needed so we
can run in 1997! Congratulations to the shimming team on this great
success! They will do more measurements and shimming with iron in
parallel with higher priority activities, ie. the inflector test, etc.
They plan to install the Surface Correction Coils starting around
Dec.2. It will take about two weeks. 

     Joe Scaduto will come up with a plan to remove the turn-table. He
will call a meeting to review the plan. Hopefully, we can remove the
turn-table and install the floor and stairs before the inflector test
begins. Mike Mapes discussed the vacuum system. They are turning out 
two chambers per week. We have one done now in Bldg. 919. Lou
Snydstrup said he should be ready to start installing the vacuum
chambers around Dec.9. We will have to interface carefully with the SCC
installation and the inflector test. The quad team wants to test one
quad with full-field before we warm-up for cryostat vacuum
maintenance. The project schedule is shown below. Respectfully
