The bottom electrode lead was modified last week to dump the electrons drifting in the EXB field. The tests were performed on July 26 and 27. The pressure was 4X10^-6 Torr. In the mu+ polarity, after a short conditioning period, they went to 30KV! The design voltage is 25KV. Congratulations to the Quad team for passing this important milestone! They will prepare for the mu- polarity test next. Lin discussed the cryo plans. They need to do maintenance on the expansion engine this week. It has logged 1200 hours since we began this cool-down. Whether we will be cold this weekend depends on how much the coils warm-up while the refrigerator is off due to the vacuum flash. John discussed the storage ring plans. They will continue working on inflector prep and the pole pieces this week. By the end of the week, they hope to have half the poles leveled. Ralf discussed the shimming plan. They took a tremendous amount of magnetic field measurements on July 27-28. They are still analyzing the data. Ralf will call a shimming meeting later in the week to discuss the results. Respectfully submitted - Bill Morse.
