Bunce g-2 Ring News ------------- We are on schedule to pump down the insulating vacuum over the weekend and begin the cool down Monday, Dec. 11. On Thursday we completed a test of the internal lead cooling lines, pumping down over Wed. night to 10^-5 torr, then pressurizing the lines with helium. No helium was seen in the insulating vacuum at a sensitivity of 10^4 lower than the original leak. The pump down was 50% faster than last time--probably because we removed much of the water before. We then bled in nitrogen, and continued work on installing the vacuum separation for the inflector, which will allow us to install the inflector with the ring cold. This installation should be complete tonight. We have also obtained, with Derek's help, a large tank for liquid nitrogen storage. This will be in the system before Christmas.
