Introduction

The beam conditions in 2002 were less than optimal: we ran at high
instantaneous rate since the Siemans Motor generator was not available
and we ran with a large pion contamination since Separator #1 was not at
   full voltage

The E949 beam instrumentation has many `improvements': new B4 counters, new
Active Degrader (AD), new Ring Veto (RV), new upstream photon veto (UPV),
analog signals from the Cerenkov counter into the CCD's, a fully instrumented
   B0 counter

Jingliang has done a remarkable job to keep the acceptance of the beam cuts
   comparable to 1998.
