How to label tapes

Tapes for recording data for E891 using the E852 data aquisition system have to be prelabeled.

To label the tapes do the following:

  1. Log into mpsdaq as mps1
  2. Put a fresh tape into a working tape drive.
  3. Type: 
    tapeNo -x -r -e -t{tape number} /dev/mxnv
    where {tape number} is the number of the tape and n in mxnv is the tape drive number.
Make sure that no errors are reported. To get an explanation of all the switches type tapeNo without the qualifiers.
