Computer Accounts

Each group in the Physics Department handles their own computer accounts. Below are links to information on how to get accounts in some of the groups. If bringing your own computer on site please review the section on computer security.

Generalities
Before any group can issue an account the user must first satisfy certain eligibility requirements:
- Must have an active guest or employee appointment. Special "remote only user" guest appointments can be requested. Guest appointments can be requested through this form. For "remote only user" requests, any questions related to coming on site can be ignored.
- Must take online cybersecurity training available from here.
- Must read and agree to the BNL user agreement available from here.

ITD Accounts
Accounts on ITD managed systems can be obtained through the ITD Account Management Office.

Physics LDAP
These machines include:
- Physics SSH gateway
- Physics Web server
- MINOS group workstations
- General purpose multi-user IRIX and Linux systems
Note, this central LDAP authentication mechanism is available to any group in Physics. Contact Brett Viren if interested.
