This group will examine the motivations and possibilities for a new round of K+ decay in flight experiments. Knowledge gained from the existing E865 experiment suggests that improvements in sensitivity to various rare decay modes might be possible. While one could perhaps improve on the K+ -> pi+ mu+ e- limit of a few times 10**-12, the emphasis of this study will be on other modes. Some of these might be:

  1. A new evaluation of V_us through an improved measurement of the B.R. for Ke3,
  2. CP violation in Ke4
  3. CP violation via the transverse polarization of the mu+ in K+ -> pi+ mu+ mu-
  4. CP violation in the mu+ mu- polarization correlation in K+ -> pi+ mu+ mu-
  5. CP violation and form factor measurements in K+ -> pi+ pi0 e+ e-
  6. CP violation in K+ -> pi+ pi+ pi-

Most of these measurements are unique to the AGS since they exploit the high fluxes of K+ at modest K+ energies. The large number of Kaons allow statistical sensitivities at Standard Model levels, while the modest energies allow polarization measurements. Suggestions for other decay modes are encouraged.

The emphasis of the working group will be on theoretical motivation and experimental feasibility of the various proposed measurements.
