Mark Dierckxsens, BNL 12 April Title: "Physics reach of a very long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment using a wide band beam" Abstract: In recent years, much interest has arisen in the neutrino mixing angle theta_13. An observation of a non-zero value will open the path to test cp violation in the leptonic sector and determine the mass hierarchy. One of the most promising proposals uses an intense conventional wideband muon neutrino beam combined with a massive detector. Much progress has been made during the past year under the joint BNL/Fermilab U.S. Long Baseline Neutrino Experiment Study. This talk will focus on the sensitivity studies for measuring the mixing angle theta_13, the CP violating phase and determination of the mass hierarchy using the results from this study. Comparisons will be made with other planned and proposed experiments.
