Adam Ritz, University of Victoria 6/20/2007 Title: "Probing new CP-odd thresholds with electric dipole moments" Abstract: Electric dipole moments (EDMs) of nucleons, ions, atoms and molecules, represent some of our most powerful probes of new physics, and new sources of CP-violation in particular. I will discuss the theoretical link between observable EDMs and new high-scale CP-odd sources, within the general framework of effective field theory, and also the ensuing sensitivity to models of new CP-violating physics. As examples, new dimension-five operators in the MSSM, and a new Higgs-sector threshold allowing for electroweak baryogenesis, will be discussed.
